WOMEN IN PHUONG QUOC TRI’S PAINTINGS

Born in Phan Rang, Phuong Quoc Tri had worked many jobs to earn a living. When he was almost 30 years old, he seriously returned to drawing and become one of the best-selling artists. Looking back on the hard journey, he said: “In the world, there are people who are much better than me, but it is a fact that luck is not evenly divided among all, so there are people who succeed and people who fail. I don’t think I’m successful yet, but due to being independent and struggling from a young age, when the opportunity comes, I immediately grab it, without hesitation.” The fact that he did not give up and was willing to seize the opportunity has contributed to the Vietnamese painting industry an excellent artist.

As a self-taught artist, Phuong Quoc Tri is famous for his paintings depicting women’s faces. Without using too many colors in his works, he focuses on portraying the personality of each character. Therefore, each girl in Phuong Quoc Tri’s painting tells a different story, just like real-life women, it’s hard for us to know what they are thinking. But one thing is for sure, that girl has gently crept into a corner of the viewer’s mind.
