Biography

To be known first as one member of the New Faces which also comprises four other painters (Nguyen Quoc Hoi, Pham Ngoc Minh, Tran Tuan, Trang Quoc Huy), Dinh Quan is considered as a counterpoise of the Gang of Five which is well-known for its innovation art. Dinh Quan has been is an inspiring name of the contemporary art over the past twenty years. His painting strokes are still fine and fresh with new layout and colour mixture. His paintings is known by the combination of strokes of expressionism painting and diversified colour mixture which presents dialogue characteristics and sudden inspiration under the strict control of a master in painting.

Dinh Quan shows the firmness and independence in his painting. Girls from his paintings seem to be flabby, thoughtful and bashful. Trees and flowers help embellish paintings and their patterns, creating an attractive layout. A special pattern which is only realized in paintings of Nguyen Gia Tri can be seen under an unheard-of spirit of an exciting, complicated and polysemantic atmosphere in present moment.

Dinh Quan was born in 1964. He graduated from Hanoi University of Fine Art in 1990. He has many exhibitions in Vietnam and foreign countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Europe and United State.
