Introduction
Van Tho often draws portraits of the people he impresses in life, which can be people in any industry, job or classes in the society. One of Van Tho's major inspirations was that he often drew inspiration from special, famous, familiar and close-knit people. In the painting drawing the music composer Van Cao, Van Tho has reproduced the portrait of the late respected musician who has many merits to Vietnamese people, therefore his brush strokes express affectionately in each line, the color in the coordination and match simple colors to depict the shades of character. In this painting or in many other paintings of Van Tho, we see a bit of orientalism and Western style. In human portraits, he often generalizes the natural expressions and provokes to create a perfect picture, and it is also the whole combination of the most selective elites of a genius
