Biography
- 1919: Born on October 20 in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province.
- 1941: Admitted to the 15th course of the Indochina College of Fine Arts.
- 1944: Won First Prize at the Salon Unique exhibition with The Temple of Literature Guard.
- 1945: Joined the revolutionary movement in his hometown of Nghe An.
- 1947: Moved to the Viet Bac military zone to create propaganda art and teach.
- 1948: Won First Prize at the National Resistance Fine Arts Exhibition with The Buffalo Calf.
- 1954: Taught at the Vietnam College of Fine Arts (now the Vietnam University of Fine Arts).
- 1959: Transferred to work at the Folk Art Workshop under the Ministry of Culture.
- 1960: Created the masterpiece Ancient Dance using the lacquer technique.
- 1990: Created Giong (recognized as a National Treasure of Vietnam in 2017).
- 1991: Married Ms. Nguyen Thu Giang, the daughter of the famous writer Nguyen Tuan.
- 1996: Awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Art (1st batch).
- 2016: Passed away on June 15 in Hanoi at the age of 97.
